NT Advisory Council on Ageing
Terms of Reference
The NT Advisory Council on Ageing (NTACA) has been established to:
- identify issues of concern to older Territorians using personal networks and formal consultation processes (especially the needs and interests of those groups which have least access to social and economic resources)
- advise the Minister annually, or as the need arises, of priority areas for action and future research
- promote debate on ageing issues in the community
- advise government of suitable ways to celebrate and enhance the role of older Territorians in the community
- provide advice and information on major proposed policy and legislative changes and on other specific matters of concern or interest referred to it by the Minister
- consider and advise on changes needed to existing government policies and legislation to accommodate the changing age demographic in the NT and Australia
- assist the Office of Senior Territorians in implementing government priorities articulated in the Active Ageing Strategy
